Chapter 96 – Girl and building a village – Part one

After we all wake up, we discuss what kind of place we will make.

What trees do we cut down What trees do we leave Where do we plant our crops We need to talk about this sort of thing from scratch.

I’m really happy that we’re all creating this place where we’ll all live together.

Mister Dongu and the others start chopping trees we’ve decided to cut.

I try to help using physical strengthening magic, but it doesn’t go as well as the others.

I’m told that using wind magic with Freinet would be quicker, but that doesn’t go very well either.

I can’t control magic very well, and cut trees I shouldn’t have, so I stop helping with this task.

I’m sad because I have magic energy and I can use wind magic, but I’m still not very helpful at the moment.

The houses are built slowly, and one by one.

Building a house from scratch is physical labor, so there’s not much I can do to help.

My number one job at the moment is giving magic energy to the spirit tree.

Freinet says I’m the only one who can do this.

I’m happy that I get to help the spirits and the spirit tree, but I’m a little anxious, because I wish I could do more to help everyone.

Apparently Gaius is stronger since his ears and tail turned silver, so even though we’re the same age, he can do more to help with cutting down trees and building houses.

He looks really happy about it.

The medicinal herb garden and fields are being made, and I did my best to help with them too.

The elves are good with earth magic, so this is where they’ve been working the most.

“Lerunda, I helped with the hunt today!”

“Lerunda, I cooked.”

Say Kayu and Shinomi with smiles on their faces.

“We helped take apart the hunt, didn’t we Dandonga”

“Yes.

It went pretty well.”

Say Dandonga and Ilkesai.

“We helped build with Gaius!”

“We built that!”

Say Luceno and Lilyd proudly, as they point towards a house.

I’m talking with the other kids, and of course, Gaius is here too.

I stare at his silver ears and tail.

I think the original color was very fascinating too, but I really want to touch his silver ears and tail.

I don’t do it because I know that’s something only their mates can do, but I can’t help but think about how fluffy they would be.

“The houses, are being built, little by little.

I’m happy.”

“Yes.

And the gryphons’ nest is coming along nicely too.”

“Yes.”

The gryphons brought their own nest.

I can’t help but the smile as I watch Reimar and the others hard at work on the parts that have become a little too small.

The little gryphons are a little bigger compared to when I first met them.

Reimar says they’ll be adults in another three or four years.

I’m really excited to see them grow.

I’m going to get bigger and become an adult too.

How is my life going to be as I grow I hope I can at least stay here, smiling with everyone.

“Lerunda.

Grandma says she will teach us more when things calm down!”

“I can’t wait.”

“I don’t really like studying, but it’s been a while since we studied with grandma, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Says Kayu.

We had to run away from humans, and after all the commotion in the elven village we had to move again.

In the middle of all this, we didn’t have the time to sit down and calmly listen to grandma.

Our everyday life in the beast people’s village is going to slowly come back.

Thinking about this fills my heart with warmth.

The seed of hope that those kind days are waiting for us here is planted.

I want to do my best to make this happen, and to protect that everyday life.

“Everyone was talking about building a place where we can worship gryphons, like the elves are doing to worship spirits.”

“Hn… I don’t think they’d like, something too big.”

“So we should make it smaller”

“I don’t know…”

I say to Ilkesai.

The gryphons aren’t here right now.

Scifo is here with me, but the gryphons are busy with their nest.

I saw the elves building a really big building for the spirits, and apparently the beast people want to do the same.

If I really am the miko… Should I make a place where I pray to the god that’s offering me divine protection I should talk about this with miss Lan later.

—Girl and building a village – Part one

(The girl that is probably the miko strives to build a village with the people that are dear to her, and talks with the other kids.)
