This was a cool film. It is guerrilla indy film making and I just love those movies. I was wondering how much it cost for the CG scorpion and some other effects in the movie such as the time lapse shots in the desert. It is really well done with how they stretched the budget their is a lot of locations and effects and a lot of actors. Did the older actors take a pay cut for the...

OK...I have never actually commented on a movie on IMDb, but this movie was so great I really felt I had to let people know about it. When I first read the synopsis of Brick at Sundance I was immediately interested in seeing it. "Film Noir set in a high school." I started hearing really terrible reviews of it and almost did not go until the very last day I could. I am so glad I...

Having read the blurb about this picture, I was expecting a knockabout English period farce at a very low budget. I was wrong. This is a nicely written, well shot (in Liverpool) period drama which transcends its meagre budget. The characters are well sketched and their working class backgrounds counterpoint the slick American peformances offered up by the likes of Al Sapienz...

I picked this one up (the DVD version) totally on impulse the other night, not having a clue as to what it would really be like. The title, cover design and descriptive blurb on the back of the DVD would indicate something quite different than a couple of guys who accidentally wind up on a cruise for gay men.But no matter, as the film turned out to be a "guilty pleasure" sort o...

Probably the only thing that got the movie up to a four for me is the fact that I love Peter Falk. One of the world's great portrayers of bumbling incompetence . . . and yet he is one of the only anchors that prevents this from being a chaotic disaster. As Pops Romano, he provides a respectable mix of gangster charm and straight man to Chris Kattan's manic foolishness.

OK, make no mistake, this movie was made to convey a message. If criticised in terms of, say, similarity to "the Firm", or "yet another cyber thriller", then you really missed the point. The message is pretty blunt, and guaranteed to anger a certain large corporation. (This is not an anti-corporate movie, it is anti- a ~particular~ corporation, and if you can't guess which ...

I went to see this movie expecting to see a big-budget remake of the original Shaft, and I got it.This version is a lot more violent than the original, it didn't seem to be in Shaft's style. The pacing and editing in the first half of the movie were fast and smooth. John Singleton did a great job in establishing Shaft's character and the plot. During the second half of the mov...

Thumbs up to the director and the stars of George of the Jungle. They have made one of the funniest children's films that you will ever see. You know that they had a great time making it because it's clearly evident on the screen. George of the Jungle is simply just a Tarzan parody. (Ape-man meets girl, falls for girl, leaves for city, returns to jungle). But the predictable

This film does not work.It has great potential and the theme of abandoning your roots frequently pops up -- giving potential for further plot development which most action films do not even approach. However, this all-star cast of blaxploitation veterans making their first film together rarely jells. For instance, Fred Williamson, who produced, seems to have forgotten that there wer...

As is well known in movie lore, John Clark Gable is the posthumous son of Clark Gable and his last wife Kay Williams Spreckels. By dint of his father's estate and the fact his mom had previously been married to the heir of the Spreckels sugar fortune, young Mr. Gable had a fairly comfortable childhood. In fact his mom took great care to raise him with a degree of privacy and aw...

I can. Because this is not only the greatest black-exploitation film ever, but also one of the best films of the 70's era. Richard Roundtree brings out Ernest Tidyman's John Shaft like no one else can (not even Samuel L. Jackson in the new shaft can compete) as the ultimate bad-a** who must investigate a kidnapping. One of the most memorable films ever made, especially b...
