When I heard about this movie I totally wanted to see it because I thought that could be a nice and funny new comedy BUT I was awfully wrong. I also wanted to watch it because on of my favorite actresses Kaley Cuoco has got a major role and I thought she is funny in Big Bang Theory so why should not she be in Penthouse, too? So I saw the movie yesterday and it started very slow...

Honestly, I did have a feeling from the trailer that Fly Me to the Moon wasn't going to exactly my style. But I had the opportunity to see it today for free and I just wanted to give it a fair chance, I don't know what's with this year, but it doesn't seem like all the animated films are gold, now we had WALL-E and Kung Fu Panda, that's about it when it come...

I was not interested in seeing this movie as I thought it would be a stupid teen story. My daughter went with her older cousins, she is only 16 and since the theater had strict security I was forced to go in as her guardian. I am 46 years old and I laughed the whole entire movie. By the end I was laughing SO hard that I could not take it anymore. I think I laughed more than the...

A really nice movie. Clever, a lot of very very funny lines, and uniformly strong performances. Better than so much of what is in theaters, I can't figure out why this didn't open on the big screen...oh yeah, it's for grown ups. Matthew Broderick manages to make his wealthy spoiled writer/producer sympathetic, mostly because his lines are so sharp, the character has...

I saw this last month at the 2008 Palm springs International Film Festival. American-born Director/writer Matthew Allen has been living in Sweden since 1991 so this film is listed as a co USA/Sweden production. It's a very strong debut feature film from Allen, a nice little comedy that will guarantee a smile on your face throughout the film. This in fact was one of the 10 a...

I think this movie is wonderful. Can't understand the low rating on this site so far--I really wouldn't be surprised if those individuals and industries who stand to lose profits from the revelations of the movie, have voted negatively to artificially reduce its average rating on this well-known site. I mean, jeez, the movie hasn't even debuted yet (I saw an advance...

Maybe it's somehow unfair that this movie was not distributed in the US (yet?). I have seen much worse movies and comedies that had less fun in them well distributed and promoted. However, I can understand the hesitations of the distributors. 'Relative Strangers' plays in a genre that has already squeezed all the juice, and makes no attempt to be something different...

There is something both enchanting and disorienting about watching a Christopher Guest film that features conventional camera angles and a narrative structure. It is a brave, and ultimately, a rewarding choice for a director who has built his impeccable reputation on the strength of his mockumentaries.Like its predecessors Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind, F...

I think that Bill Plympton is one of the most original and talented animators of all the history, and just like his other films and animated shows, "Hair High" is enough proof of his unique vision and talent. While it starts as a simplistic high school comedy (But without any of the stupid clichés and stereotypes of this kind of films) it quickly evolves into a b...

If ever you wanted to watch a movie without the words and scenes that make it a "better film," Life on Liberty Street is one. Not only does it have a start, middle and end, the actors play their parts fully and in tune with each other. The First thing you have to know is that "Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital" on ABC is a remake of the Danish mini-series "Riget" and "Riget II" by Lars Von Trier. So it's essentially a process of "translating" something for the mainstream. My main problem with this was that they didn't focused on all the important things; it lost all the humor factor and it's special weirdo<...

This movie was in and out of Atlanta theaters in one week-what a shame! It doesn't deserve the short run and bad reviews. All I can say is, if you like romantic movies, try this one on DVD. Stateside has the kind of sweet story that the critics usually hate. It's refreshingly different from most romances. It avoids the typical formula. You know the one, where the girl and guy m...

I really love this version of the Pyramid Game Show. There were a lot of neat celebrities and great contestants during its run. I first caught a look at this version in early 2003 when it was on a local CBS station. It was wonderful and I was overjoyed to discover it. Donny Osmond was a wonderful host and he did a great job, as did Dick Clark back when he had the show. I was al...

I believe that this was the most severely underrated film of 2002, and it was also my personal favorite for a great year in film. Now, I sincerely doubt that many moviegoers would consider this one of the year's best, or even a great film, so this comes with a tentative recommendation. I wouldn't recommend this movie to just anybody, but I feel that fans of the prior work

It's not as bad as some people say. Some of the jokes are worth a chuckle. The acting isn't spectacular but not terrible. Although they could have done a better performance. I think they should have gotten Elizabeth Hurley to play Kirstie Alley's role. She wasn't very convincing as a British sex bomb. You could kinda tell Rodney was dying. In fact, I wouldn'...

People never cease to amaze me. There are 29 quasi-unanimously negative comments about this movie. Many all-time masterpieces have only 3 to 5 comments posted on this site. If this is such a forgettable trashy TV movie (which it may be to many), why waste so much time criticizing mediocrity? Why bother after wasting almost 2 hours of your life? Why watch the movie at all? I saw...

Out of the many, many teen flicks out there today, I find this one my favorite of them all. It stands above the rest mainly because it does not take itself seriously. In the first, oh, five minutes of the film you have: 1) A guy being sucked into a vortex when his girlfriend breaks up with him and 2) A full-on song and dance number. Yes, this movie is stupid, and it knows it.I ...

This is a feel good movie, not very deep BUT well conceived, written and acted. DeVito is excellent as a failing marketing man being transformed into a thoughtful, caring army educator. As important is the film's excellent presentation and discussion of the works of Shakespeare. No surprise, DeVito's self centered abrasiveness meets with antipathy. Army officers don'...

Saw it before, and watched it again last night, even though I normally don't watch films twice. Period.I think this is a brilliant film. The humour in it is great, even though I knew what was coming. Many of the titles featured in this Internet Movie Database represent films that for various reasons are welcomed with scorn regardless of the good intentions of their creators. One such film is David Kirschner's "The Pagemaster," created by him as a means to share with his two daughters, Alexis and Jessica (both of whom, by the way, have cameos in the film), the wonder...

I read Tom Robbins' EVEN COWGIRLS GET THE BLUES as a teenager. I loved every word. It was sexy, funny, and full of glamorous scenery and beautiful writing. But when I saw the movie, I could not believe what a dull, sour, joyless piece of junk it was. How did this happen? I think someone in Hollywood read this book and filed it under "GAY PRIDE -- WOMEN -- LESBIANS." (That's the...

Transylvania 6-5000 is the movie that my siblings and I make inside jokes about and no one ever gets them. This movie is funny. The person that wrote the highly retentive review above is lacking a significant character trait necessary to positively judge such films: persistent immaturity. OK, his mother may be really proud of him. However, the ability to appreciate the validity...

This is a classic 70s/80s 'hot for teacher' movie about a teenage boy whose sexy housekeeper seduces him. The plot, mediocre at best. The acting, salvageable. The art direction...wait a second! This movie is about recollecting those teenage years with your 70's glasses on, not about quality film-making. It's about T&A and tan lines, cheesy dialog, and being able to see boom mic...

For what turned out to be his final film, Billy Wilder decided to adapt the French black comedy L'Emmerdeur to America and he and his writing partner I.A.L. Diamond came up with Buddy Buddy.
