Terry-Thomas Movies

1973
Genres: Horror    Mystery

Starring: Daniel Massey, Anna Massey, Mike Pratt, Erik Chitty, Jerold Wells, ...

An underrated horror omnibus from Amicus, makers of such hits as Dr Terror's
House Of Horrors (1965) and Tales From The Crypt (1972). All the stories
(taken from the EC comics by William Gaines and Al Feldstein) are great fun.
These feature Daniel Massey who murders real-life sister Anna Massey for
her inheritance, only to walk into a restaraunt frequented by
vampires-includi...

Robin Hood is personally one of my favorite Disney movies of all time,
it's one of those animated films that gets over looked or over shadowed
by other Disney classics, I wish it did get more notice. The animation
is great and just has that old feel to it when animators used to draw
the pictures, it feels more personal and special that way. Not to
mention that this was a g...

Dr Phibes Rises Again is the sequel to the magnificent 'The Abominable
Dr Phibes'. The original film achieved cult classic status through a
magnificent performance from Vincent Price as the vengeful doctor of
the title, and an over the top, absurd, camp styling that set it apart
from most other films in it's field. Both of these ingredients are
present for the sequel, but it do...

Starring: Vincent Price, Joseph Cotten, Hugh Griffith, Terry-Thomas, Virginia North, ...

Calling this 'Horror' does not make it justice. I wouldn't call it
'movie', either, but 'film'. It's pure art. The sets and art direction
are incredible, the whole movie shows the 'aura' of 1920's Art Deco,
giving it that 'classy' touch. The script is also very original, and
there's even room in it for lots of laughs, without sacrificing style
or rhythm. Vincent Price is PERFEC...

Starring: Tallulah Bankhead, Victor Borge, Patty Duke, Jack Gilford, Sessue Hayakawa, ...

"The Daydreamer" is a movie which I hadn't heard of before until I saw
it in the children's section of a movie store. I usually like
Rankin-Bass's other movies and TV specials, especially "Rudolph The Red
Nosed Reindeer" and "The Little Drummer Boy". Sure, the animation is
archaic compared to the 3D animation we know today, but most of thei...

Few films there are ineed that I would be willing to pay a
lot
to have on DVD, but this certainly is!In my book it rates with Tati's best, and he's tops! The idea of making a film about aircraft was not new, I
guess,
but to do it such manner is still unique! Who would make a filmabout an air-race between London and Paris, and do it as a
comedy,
with almost perfect dialogue,...

Genres: Adventure    Comedy    Crime

Starring: Spencer Tracy, Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Buddy Hackett, Ethel Merman, ...

I never planned to write a review for this movie, until I took a stroll
through the user comments, and was shocked at all the people who think
it is.... God help us... overrated. No way. If anything, it is
UNDERrated. I see people complaining about the endless shouting, the
over the top slapstick, the brashness, the loudness, the length. I can
only conclude that these people ar...
1959
Genres: Comedy

Starring: Ian Carmichael, Terry-Thomas, Peter Sellers, Richard Attenborough, Dennis Price, ...

The cast alone is a triumph in this movie - some of the best British
character actors who ever lived are here: Terry Thomas, Miles Malleson,
John Le Mesurier, all backing up Ian Carmichael as the earnest, silly-ass
upper-class bumbler and Peter Sellers as Fred Kite, the Marxist shop
steward. Sellers in particular is wonderful; his Fred Kite is a lower class
striver who has ac...

1957
Genres: Comedy

Starring: Terry-Thomas, Peter Sellers, Peggy Mount, Shirley Eaton, Dennis Price, ...

This film solidified Peter Sellers' stardom as a comic actor of the
first rank. He had appeared in other films prior to it, but THE
LADYKILLERS was the only one prior to this that showed him to any
advantage, as an inept "teddy boy" type. Here he is "Wee Sonny MacGregor" a popular young entertainer on
television, whose variety show has mostly elderly viewers who think of
Sonny ...

Genres: Comedy

Starring: Terry-Thomas, George Cole, Joyce Grenfell, Alastair Sim, Sabrina, ...

In the days before political correctness reared its ugly head, boys
were boys and girls and girls, and ne'er the twain should meet - except
for St. Trinian's where small girls were boys, at least in their
behaviour, and large girls were rather pretty, in Sabrina's case
voluptuous. The main characters were all well drawn with a splendid
supporting cast and all very B...
