Genres: Drama    Horror    Thriller

Starring: Heather Graham, James Purefoy, Fionnula Flanagan, Alan Mckenna, Michael J. Reynolds, ...

With horror remakes being all the rage right now, I don't understand
why these filmmakers didn't just remake Rosemary's Baby with Heather
Graham instead of Mia Farrow. That's all that this movie really is...
Rosemary's Baby with a dash of sci-fi cloning to make it feel like it's
something new. Only "Blessed" is done with none of the subtle style of
Roman Polanski or Ira Levin. ...

I've been reading the comments page in a somewhat bemused fashion. It
seems to be divided between people who don't like the movie because it's not
enough like the original graphic novel and people who don't like it because
they've never heard of half of the characters that are members of the
League. The latter seems to me to be an unutterably silly reason for
disliking a film...

Genres: Biography    Comedy    Drama    Music

Starring: Dennis Hopper, Melanie Griffith, Portia de Rossi, Joel Edgerton, Rose Byrne, ...

A surprisingly entertaining comedy about a young Aussie promoter (Joel
Edgerton) who manages to convince Frank Sinatra and his crew to visit
Australia for a few shows. All goes well until Frank Sinatra (Dennis
Hopper) runs into a TV reporter (played by Ally McBeal's Portia de Rossi)
who claims he spat on her at the airport. Frank won't apologise so in
steps

Genres: Comedy    Drama    Sport

Starring: Vinnie Jones, David Kelly, David Hemmings, Ralph Brown, Vas Blackwood, ...

I could understand not liking this movie if someone was expecting
Citizen Kane (and if you were, you should be flogged). For a straight
to video/cable movie, it had great prod. value, sharp dialogue, and a
great supporting cast of Guy Ritchie characters. Throw in some solid
football and you have a film to help you forget the worries of your
day. The commentary by the two Bobs a...

Genres: Crime    Drama    History

Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis, Cameron Diaz, Jim Broadbent, John C. Reilly, ...

Gangs of New York is just perfect entertainment. It is an enthralling,
bloody, melodramatic epic that more than justifies its two and one half hour
running time. In Gangs director Martin Scorsese spins another tale of the
New York underworld but with a twist. Instead of the mid-twentieth century
organized crime milieu of Goodfellas, Scorsese ventures back to the 19th
century to...

In London, in a pub, the friends Vic Tucker (Tom Courtney), owner of a
funerary agency, the former boxer Lenny (David Hemmings) and the gambler
Ray Johnson (Bob Hoskins) gathers with Vince Dodds (Ray Winstone), the owner
of a `showroom', to accomplish the last wish of his father and local
butcher Jack Dodds (Michael Caine): to throw his ashes in the sea, in
Margate. His wife ...

"Gladiator" definitely is a classic film as it combines a simple, but
moving, story with beautiful scenery, filming, direction and score – it
is truly a "complete" movie.I am mostly compelled with the beautiful script which in a way reminds
me of poetry, though it is still everyday language. I love the acting
portrayed by the late Oliver Reed and also Richard Harris. Russell

A faith healer who appears from nowhere suddenly cures the sick son of
a profound government senator, whom the politicians wife falls under
the mysterious healer's charm and the young boy grows attached to his

strange about all of this, could it all be a hypnotic trick or is there
something really s...

Genres: Crime    Drama    Horror    Mystery    Thriller

Starring: Christopher Plummer, James Mason, David Hemmings, Susan Clark, Anthony Quayle, ...

This is a remarkable little movie that has never reached classic status for
some reason. Aside from an incredible cast, all of whom suit the dignified
proceedings admirably, there are two other stars who lift this film above
the level of an excellent thriller. One is the production design. The old
Hollywood style of foggy streets and dark alleys, with sinister cabs
skulking alo...

An Aussie vampire film? Never would have thought. Not to
denigrate my country's film industry, but ... well, it's
not known for producing bloodsucker flicks. The exception
is
this little oddity, released in 1979 and now hidden away
in
the 'horror' section of video stores across the country.Having heard of the film for several yrs, and seen the
cover
at my local vide...

Starring: David Hemmings, Daria Nicolodi, Gabriele Lavia, Macha Méril, Eros Pagni, ...

As with other Argento giallos, the accent in "Deep Red" is on the
visuals: the artsy sets, the garish lighting, the tendency for the
camera to dwell on brutal details. Images are stark, with high contrast
in lighting. And there's lots of visual symmetry. Emotionally, "Deep
Red" is cold, entirely appropriate, given that the theme relates to the
psychological coldness of a killer...

Genres: Adventure    Comedy    Fantasy    Sci-Fi

Starring: Jane Fonda, John Phillip Law, Anita Pallenberg, Milo O'Shea, Marcel Marceau, ...

This film is beautiful. From the gorgeous Jane Fonda, and sexy Pygar to
the
wonderful costumes, and the very shiney sets, there is nothing ugly in
the
whole thing.Unbelievably silly it has some fantastic lines of dialogue like
"de-crucify
the angel or I melt your face!" Great characters, a killer lava lamp, fur
lined space ship and a villain called Duran Duran. The evil ...

Genres: Comedy    Drama    Fantasy    Musical    Romance

Starring: Richard Harris, Vanessa Redgrave, Franco Nero, David Hemmings, Lionel Jeffries, ...

One of the reviews I once read of this marvellous film dismissed it as 'kohl
and overacting'. No way. It has so many scenes that live in the memory as
I write, not having revisited the movie for quite some time. The wedding
sequence with all its lights; Guinevere, beautiful in her wonder of the
magical land where leaves 'blow away altogether, at night, of course'; If
Ever I ...

I would recommend that people who are considering watching this film for
the
first time not read the following. I don't mention the film's ending, I
just believe its far more satisfying to let the films potent details
nervously sink into place on their own.It is not about cameras. It is not about seeing. It is about our perception
of our individual world. It throws shadows on...
