"The Cake Eaters" is so subtle a story and pleasing a film you won't
notice how great it is until it is over. Much credit is due to Jayce
Bartok, the screenwriter, as well as, Mary Stuart Masterson, the
director, to fulfill the hearts of its characters while filling the
souls of the audience. "Eaters" sweet subtleties meet heavy hearts
touching on such powerful subjects as ...

Just saw this at the SXSW film festival and found it pretty damn fun.
The dialog is kludgey in spots, and I'm not sure they sold the romantic
relationship between the two leads well enough, but there are some
funny, clever moments with the main story about the competing cereal
bars, and the concept itself I thought was fun. Christopher Lloyd has a
few nice moments here and ...

I had the pleasure of watching this film in Austin at the SouthbySouth
West Film Festival and it was hilarious. It was simple in humor yet
that was the funny thing about it. Their wasn't a dry seat in the
house. And no they weren't crying out of laughter but for pissing their
pants while laughing. Especially with the lines from Paul Schnieder's
character Lagrand. I ...

- MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD -Last night I went to watch the German premiere of what I hoped would be
the triumphant finale in the X-Men trilogy. I had purposefully ignored
all early reviews and news about the film, I didn't even know that
Bryan Singer had left the project - believe me, after ten minutes of
the movie, I knew he had.I won't bother to go into the story here, as i...

The Hills Have Eyes, although a remake of the original, was everything
a horror movie should be. Typically, I'm not a fan of slasher flicks,
but this movie had elements I like to see in a movie. I don't like to
see the protagonists making stupid mistakes (the old "curiosity killed
the cat" syndrome), I don't like being able to guess the villain 20
minutes into the movie (althou...

Josh Sternfeld has done the unthinkable. He has elected to tell a story
merely by allowing the viewer to overhear the minimal dialogue of the
characters without supplying a linear plot or explanation of how a
little family fell apart.Landscaper Jim Winters (Anthony LaPaglia is a brilliant role) is the
single father of two sons - Gabe (Aaron Stanford) who is the older and

A lot has been said about this movie, as is the case with many recent
Hollywood comics adaptations. While I truly respect everyone's opinion, I
really don't see the point in some criticisms brought up against this
movie.(Definitely NO spoilers ahead.)First of all, we must realize that X-men comics have been around for
decades. They existed before many of you were born. Still, the p...

If you go to the movies to feel good about life, to feel all warm and
fuzzy about the world around you, then "Rick" isn't for you. However,
if you delight in stories that revel in the darker side of human
nature, that have a nasty sense of humor, then this incredibly dark
comedy might be just the film for you.Based on Verdi's opera, "Rigoletto," editor-turned-director Curtiss

'I tattooed 'survive' on my hand the night before I went away to
prison. And I did. We do what we have to do to survive.'I don't think I can remember a film that has put me more on an emotive
level with the main character as this film has. Edward Norton plays
Monty Brogan – he's not the nicest of people by anyone's standards –
and certainly no one you should feel sorry fo...
