Starring: Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Ned Beatty, Alfred Molina, ...

Almost accidentally I ended up in front of the big screen to see this
movie. At first I wasn't very happy with this 'accident', thinking that
I must have seen enough animated movies by now! I mean, yes they're all
very nice with funny characters and nice graphics and all, but come on!
How many of these movies can a man takes?! Turns out: at least one more! It wa...

Having seen numerous reviews praising this movie I had high
expectations. Unfortunately this movie wasn't the interesting look into
the mind of a killer that I was expecting. I haven't read the original
novel so I can't comment on how this movie compares to it, but as a
stand alone movie it is extremely slow and makes very little sense.
From the bizarre cart...

Pixars last three films have been genius on every level, and they hope
to continue this winning streak with toy story 3 and it just doesn't
deliver. I was a big fan of the first two movies especially the second
one for their heart and humor. This film relies too much on nostalgia
and sentiment and not enough on actual substance. There are a few

Genres: Crime    Drama    Mystery    Thriller

Starring: Tommy Lee Jones, John Goodman, Peter Sarsgaard, Kelly Macdonald, Mary Steenburgen, ...

Why this movie went straight to DVD is beyond me. The mood is pure
southern Gothic, the acting is terrific, and the story is complicated
and sad.The performances were dead on. TLJ hits Dave Robicheaux on the button.
But the best is Mary Steenburgen as Bootsie. She really nails this
part. The story is about a Cajun cop who is haunted by his own demons, and by

Genres: Comedy    Family

Starring: Simon Callow, Stephen Fry, Celia Imrie, Paul Giamatti, Ned Beatty, ...

This is by so far the funniest movie of all time, and for all the wrong
reasons. And here's just a few examples why: - When the baby is born,
he is launched quarter-back style from the womb into the arms of a
running doctor - A boy with a flatulence problem is best friends with a
child-genius who happens to have no sense of smell, named Alan A. Alan
- He travels around the ...

Starring: Woody Harrelson, Kristin Scott Thomas, Lauren Bacall, Ned Beatty, Moritz Bleibtreu, ...

"Whoever has looked deeply into the world might well guess what wisdom
lies in the superficiality of men," is a quotation attributed to
Nietzsche. The first half of The Walker could be said to demonstrate
such a principle, particularly the mien of its chief protagonist,
Carter Page III (flawlessly played by Woody Harrelson). Yet the second
half would give that observation an al...

Before you watch this DVD there is something very important that you
must understand. Richard Donner never completed Superman II. And, since
he never completed the film it was impossible to truly make a "Donner
cut" per say. What this DVD (edited and produced by Michael Thau) shows
us is what the film "may" have looked like. Once you understand that
you will be able to enjoy th...

This film can be summed up in two words. Superman Trouble. That is the
case.
There are two versions of the film "Superman II." One is the vision of
acclaimed director Richard Donner, full of color flourishes, and camera
work
by the late Geoffrey Unsworth. The second, is the vision put on director
Richard Lester, by choice of the film's producers, Alexander and Ilya
Salk...

Genres: Drama

Starring: Joseph Ashton, Dabney Coleman, Ned Beatty, Dave Matthews, Renee Faia, ...

This movie was a very good adaptation of the book, and this coming from
someone who is very critical. I have, like most, read the book many
times, which I think makes it harder to like any film adaptation.
However, the movie follows the book very well, omitting small things
that really didn't have a lot to do with the plot-line. I would say the
movie had a little more of a reli...

I became a fan of the TV series `Homicide: Life on the Street' late in the
show's run, but became a fan very quickly. It was a cop show unlike any
other: visually different in its use of hand-held cameras, taking the viewer
everywhere, with its multiethnic and mutiracial cast and their varying and
fascinating personalities, and that it covered all of the good and bad of a
poli...

It's hard to believe a film this sunny came from Robert Altman, and is also
this good, but there you go. While I love some of his films, like M*A*S*H,
MCCABE AND MRS. MILLER, NASHVILLE, THE PLAYER, and SHORT CUTS, there are
times when I feel he has a fundamental contempt for his subject matter, like
in THE LONG GOODBYE and POPEYE, and for his characters. But while this
movie,...

Sure,Eddie Murphy has gotten credit over the years for being the comic
genius that he is,but he does not always get proper credit for his
movie work.1999's Life is a good example of Murphy getting
overlooked. He does great work here, along with Martin Lawrence(whom I am
not a huge fan of, but I must give him due credit here)as two men
wrongly sentenced to life imprisonment. This i...

I recently watched this movie for the first time, and as a 19 year old
black male it spoke to me. However, I can see this being a film that
everyone can appreciate. Especially now, with Lebron James and other
upcoming HS athletes, you really see the other side of life that only
they know. This movie detailed the life of the #1 basketball star in HS, and the
issues he deals with ...

Starring: Sean Connery, Laurence Fishburne, Kate Capshaw, Blair Underwood, Ed Harris, ...

"Just Cause" is a psychological thriller about the American justice system
in general, and capital punishment in particular. Sean Connery plays Paul
Armstrong, a law professor who strongly opposes capital punishment.
Responding to a plea, Armstrong comes out of semi-retirement and travels to
Florida to help the young, black death row prisoner Bobby Earl Ferguson, who
claims he ...

This movie was dubbed a football version of "Rocky" except for one exception
--it is an actual true story!! If you can watch "Rudy" and not have a lump
in your throat during several scenes, especially the ending, then you are a
hard to please critic!! This movie deserved much better than the 7.1 than
the "critics" gave it. Sean Austin did a magnificent job playing

Usually we get treated to one type of spy movie these days. This type is
made up of good looking young agents with all sorts of high tech weapons and
gear. There are beautiful women who are just lining up to sleep with the
good guy. The Fourth Protocol is not one of these movies and thank goodness!
It is one of the most realistic cold war spy movies out there. Despite it's

Genres: Comedy    Romance    Sport

Starring: Rodney Dangerfield, Sally Kellerman, Burt Young, Keith Gordon, Robert Downey Jr., ...

Rodney Dangerfield made this movie with his hilarious one liners. I still
find myself quoting many of these lines which he delivers beautifully
throughout the movie. The more you watch it the funnier it gets, and I'll
be
watching it for a few more decades yet....

Genres: Adventure    Comedy    Drama

Starring: Vincent Friell, Joe Mullaney, Teri Lally, Ned Beatty, Robert Urquhart, ...

It takes a lot to get around the alarmingly 80's Edinburgh featured in
this movie. A lot has changed since then and since the movie is about 2
guys who are bored with their lives, the city scenes are shot in the
most drab and depressing way possible. This only accentuates their
adventures in the countryside.Basically Ronnie and Will are on the edge. They hate their lives so

I saw this movie when it was released twenty-four years ago and I am
happy
to say that it has not aged at all. It is just as funny and delightful
today
as it was then. "Hopscotch" is a diamond in the rough and a real gem.
Walter
Matthau plays an experienced CIA agent, Miles Kendig, who is sentence to

1941 is considered to be Steven Spileberg's folly, a screwball farce
about the Japanese invading America after pearl harbour, starring some
of the greatest actors and comedians that ever lived. Some people hate
it, I love it. Sorry for all you haters, but I guess the things I like
are the things you dislike, but for the life of me, I can't understand

Genres: Comedy    Drama

Starring: Brad Dourif, John Huston, Dan Shor, Harry Dean Stanton, Amy Wright, ...

John Huston used to describe the story as that of a young man who was
disappointed by Jesus. This is one of his least accessible works, not for the mainstream, and we can
put it near "reflections in a golden eye" (1967),"under the volcano" (1984)
and his final apotheosis "the dead" (1987)"Wise blood" is a the story of a long suicide. It's a hell of a thing to tell

Yes, Superman, the superhero everyone knows about. What is there to
say, that hasn't already been said. This film is superb! Perfect,
outstanding, touching, tear-jerking, and everything else good one could
possibly say! That is because this film was made by people who knew
what they were doing, and they knew how to give us a real story.
Richard Donner has given us this total de...

We now know that it was the FBI's number two man and J Edger Hoover
loyalist W Mark Felt who fingered Nixon!I'd recommend this movie, but with warnings attached to this! Firstly,
Redford and Hoffman were at their best during the 1970's and their
performances don't disappoint, I'm sure that they also depicted their

The opening shot of "Nashville" shows a van with a loudspeaker offering
platitudes from Hal Phillip Walker, Replacement Party candidate for
President and the perfect middleman for the movie "Nashville," which like
the never-seen candidate offers a series of apparently disconnected
vignettes that touch on deeper truths but remain enigmatic and yet, somehow,
substantial and truth...

Unlike many other films, which are disturbing either by dint of their naked
unpleasantness (Man Bites Dog) or their sheer violence (most Peckinpah
films), Deliverance shocks by its plausibility. Certainly, the buggery scene
is pretty straightforward in its unpleasantness, but the film's effect
derives far more from its slow build-up and the tangible sense of isolation
