I enjoy Michael Cera as much as the next person; he's awkward and
endearing and watching him fumble makes me feel better about myself.
The thing about Michael Cera, is that all of the characters he plays...
are Michael Cera.Well... except for Nick Twisp. It starts off with Nick masturbating; I hadn't seen the trailer prior
to the TIFF premiere, and during that first scene ...

After watching this movie, I just couldn't stop talking about it. Mind
you, not in the sense that someone can't stop talking about a great
book or show, but more along the line of how someone can't stop talking
about their colonoscopy during a diner conversation. In other words,
after seeing this you can't help but try and remove the stain it left
on your very s...

Genres: Comedy    Sci-Fi

Starring: David Alan Basche, Patrick Warburton, Siobhan Fallon, Patrick Gallo, Cece Pleasants, ...

I saw this at a free test screening a while back and it was very funny.
The crowd laughed a lot and actually stood to leave and stopped to
watch the jokes during the credits. It has an older feel to it like one
of John Cusack's earlier "teen" movies. Worth seeing, especially as a
1st date film. The only knock I could have against it is that they play
up Chris Elliott and Mo Roc...

Genres: Comedy    Drama    Romance

Starring: Michelle Pfeiffer, Paul Rudd, Saoirse Ronan, Stacey Dash, Fred Willard, ...

I saw this last night (6/15/07) at The Maui International Film
Festival. It is going to be categorized by some as a "Chick Flick",
however the chemistry between Michelle Pfeiffer and Paul Rudd is
undeniable. Since the film won't be released for a few months, I'm not
going to go into any specific plot details, however Hollywood's
obsession with youth, plastic surgery...
2007
Genres: Drama    Romance

Starring: C. Thomas Howell, Jeff Stearns, Tara D'Agostino, Fred Willard, Fred Williamson, ...

This film is remarkable in that it is both a highly engaging work of
film-making but also a great poetic work. The actors, too, pull off a
verbal tour de force, especially in scenes when they are "making up"
poems off the tops of their heads. If you like past-faced, verbal
action, this is your flick. C Thomas Howell is superb as the nasty, too
successful "street poet". Writer d...

Starring: Ryan Newman, Steve Buscemi, Mitchel Musso, Catherine O'Hara, Fred Willard, ...

I just saw this movie at the Seattle International Film Festival. I
didn't know what to expect, but I must say I found it quite enjoyable.
There was a lot of talk before the movie. People were saying that it
will be too scary for the little kids, but not adult enough to capture
older kids attention.I can see it being quite frightening at times for the little ones, but

The previews looked very promising- another funny looking parody film
on the 'date movies' we've seen over the past few years. But this was
anything but funny. I saw an advanced screening this evening with an
entirely full theater and as the scenes trudged along, practically
everyone was sitting in stunned silence. The gags are predictable, the
jokes are drawn out to ridiculous...

Genres: Animation    Adventure    Comedy    Family    Sci-Fi

Starring: Zach Braff, Garry Marshall, Don Knotts, Patrick Stewart, Amy Sedaris, ...

This was a film with a somewhat interesting premise, a somewhat
interesting main character, and a somewhat interesting conclusion. This
was not a Pixar film: it wasn't designed to appeal to adults. Rather,
the writers focus on giving the kiddies a few laughs without leaving
the parents comatose with boredom. And when everything is taken into consideration, the writers succeed.

This movie was shallow and very, very predictable. Even if it's been a
very long time since I watched this movie, I'd forgotten most of the
scenes, but I could already predict what the ending would be during the
first 2 minutes of the movie! It was just so obvious. Watch the first
two minutes, I dare you, and you'll know who Jenny's going to be ending
up wit...

When Anchorman came into theaters, I avoided it like a dead sewer rat.
When it came onto HBO, I pretended it didn't exist. In fact, I would
not have even LOOKED at it had my remote control not stuck on the
stupid channel. So I watched a few minutes. I didn't laugh. I wasn't
surprised. Then one day, surfing the premium movie channels, I was thoroughly
unimpressed by t...

I almost didn't see the movie because of the title, then I read the
description in the SXSW directory, and I'm glad I did; it's up there
amongst
my favorite films from the 2004 selections.A real killer diller, can really play, according to Vernon (Lucas Black),
an
austic savant at piano, who crosses paths with Wesley (William Lee Scott),
a
car thief sent in a halfway ho...

If two chicks sitting in stalls playing 'Battleshits' while the two
Indian and Asian 'heroes' hide between them suffering the sounds and
smells of scatological low humor sounds funny to you, then you should
consider seeing 'Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle.' My last stoner
movie, the remake of 'Starsky and Hutch,' was indeed Sunday school by
contrast.Director Danny Leiner ('...

As I am sure most of you know, Wake Up, Ron Burgundy was compiled
completely of deleted scenes and alternate takes. Some are saying it is
a sequel to Anchorman, but it feels more like an alternate movie. The
same things happen to all the characters, but in different ways. All it
took was a narrator to piece together the scenes on the cutting floor
and there you have it, another...

Genres: Comedy    Romance

Starring: Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Thomas Ian Nicholas, ...

With a number of the original characters now missing, this latest entry in
the outrageous and wild comedy series shows us that Jim (Jason Biggs) and
Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) are getting married. Amidst the barrage of
bad-taste gags, Stifler (Seann William Scott) gets wind of the wedding and
plans the ultimate bachelor party, while Jim tries to convince Michelle's
parents (Fr...

It's been done before in "Friday", and "Up in Smoke." There's no great plot
line. There's no moral plea. There's no character development, cool
graphics, intense cinematography or internal conflict. And yet. This movie defies all the rules of story writing and film making. The
absolute preposterousness of the storyline alone is intellectually
offensive. And yet.It was hilarious. F...

Genres: Comedy    Fantasy    Horror    Mystery    Sci-Fi    Thriller

Starring: Devon Sawa, Seth Green, Elden Henson, Jessica Alba, Vivica A. Fox, ...

I can only say that I never expected very much from "Idle hands" but luckily
I watched it anyway because the film turned out to be rather a pleasant
surprise. Brutal gore effects, amusing dialogue, wacky storyline and wild
situation comic makes this film much better than most of the recently
released horror flicks. Devon Sawa was amazingly funny in the leading role
of young Ant...

Genres: Comedy    Drama    Romance

Starring: Steve Martin, Daryl Hannah, Rick Rossovich, Shelley Duvall, John Kapelos, ...

If you don't like Steve Martin, watch this movie and you will. This movie
so
perfectly showcases his talents, both physical and verbal. The supporting
cast is good too. The first scene with Daryl Hannah is great, as was the
20
better insults scene, but the highlight of the movie, at least for me, was
Chris's first date with Roxanne. The whole thing where he's at her house

Ah! If only ALL "made-for-TV" works were like this one! They just don't
make them like this anymore. I doubt if they ever will. I've begun to
notice how the quality of the arts at any given moment seem to be
indicative of a culture's uprise/downfall.I just finished watching Salem's Lot now in 2004, many years after it
was made, and I still realize what masterpiece this film is. Exc...
