As a kid, I used to watch reruns of the original "Maverick" -- and so I
looked forward to seeing this one when it came out in the theaters. I was
NOT disappointed! Mel Gibson's Maverick is a bit more goofy than James
Garner's, but is every bit as charming, sly, and entertaining. A number of
excellent cameos provide some comic relief, especially Danny Glover near the
beginnin...

In 1975, I was 11 years old. "Escape To Witch Mountain" played to a
packed house at a now-defunct old theatre called, Miracle. People were
sitting on the floor because they sold more tickets than they had
seats. I'd never seen anything like that before. My dad and step mom took me to the movie and we got the last of the few
remaining seats. They probably only took me because it was ...

Genres: Western

Starring: John Wayne, George Kennedy, Neville Brand, Gary Grimes, Walter Barnes, ...

Unlike the comment that said "unoriginal", for a western of the early
seventies, when the western was at that time dying out for a period,
this is a gallant effort on the part of all involved in the production.
I must confess, it would be hard for me to say anything bad about a
John Wayne movie, it certainly is not "The Searchers", but no where
near "The Geisha and the Barbaria...

Starring: Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, Michael J. Pollard, Gene Hackman, Estelle Parsons, ...

Besides being an enormously entertaining movie, "Bonnie and Clyde" was an
important 1960's landmark film in a couple of ways. Its violent ending
helped to hasten the end of the old Hayes code, which had been a severe
restrictor of artistic freedom; and it helped shape the '60's image of the
anti-hero. For these things it received a good deal of condemnation as well
as commendat...

Starring: Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, Natalie Wood, Peter Falk, Keenan Wynn, ...

Although "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" was the first comedy to get the
epic film treatment, "The Great Race" is in my opinion the best epic comedy.
It's just a much funnier film with so many laughs in its first half that
the more serious part dealing with the palace intrigues and the straight
sword fight acts more as a breather for the viewer before it revs up again
with t...

Other reviewers, aside from seeing this as the end of the classic
western, saw the plot as myth granting to one man that which was
rightfully another's. I disagree. I see TMWSLV as a tale of a man
stepping aside for the sake of a better man and a better world, at
great personal cost.I view Tom as someone who has lived a cynical life--kill it before it
kills you. With the advent...

States. The majority of the film is the story of this war, told from
Geronimo's perspective.While the script...

Starring: Audie Murphy, Marshall Thompson, Charles Drake, Jack Kelly, Gregg Palmer, ...

Audie Murphy's screen autobiography is a much better film than it has
any right to be... The Army provides a Depression-era kid from East
Texas with a strong family structure that he has never really
experienced...In 1937, a young Audie Murphy (played by Gordon Gebert as a boy, by
Murphy himself later) is forced to become the head of a family with an
ailing mother and an absent...
