Last week on SBS, I managed to catch Patlabor 3 at one p.m. Wow.
Thankfully, it was the one anime that wasn't airing at midnight or one
in the morning, like SBS always does. Starting off, you'll notice the lackluster voice acting in the English
dub. It sounds monotonous to the point of blandness. Blandness is also
a problem with the character designs, as the main character ...

Genres: Adventure    Drama

Starring: Paul Sanchez, Lari White, Leonid Citer, David Allen Brooks, Jelena Papovic, ...

From time to time a group of people with a lot of guts come forward and
challenge
something, that every average thinking producer would get nightmares to
even
think
about making it.Fear of failing must come to mind, if the setting says:- only one actor for 80 min (and one dead body)- 40 min of it basically limited to: "Hello,.. What's that?.. Albert
Miller,.. Over here,.."-...

Genres: Animation    Family

Just finished a bit of anime called CATNAPPED. Its about two kids who
are taken to a world of cats in order to rescue their dog, and help
stop a wicked princess. Its fun. Its not perfect and should be longer
then the 75 minutes of its running time. Its one of those movies, and
lord knows there aren't many, that has its heart in the right place.
Its one where because you get...

You need to see this. Ninja Scroll is a personal favorite of mine and I
find many amazing aspects to this animated film. The story, ninja action and characters are amazing. Jubei and Kigero's
tale is more tragic then anything Shakespeare has thought up. The eight
devils of Kimon are each interesting in their own way and some are sure
to warrant more interest to you then others. By m...

Genres: Romance    Thriller    Drama

Starring: Madonna, Michael Forest, Joe Mantegna, Charles Hallahan, Mark Rolston, ...

Beautifully filmed, Madonna never looked better. This campy thriller
gave Madonna fans some of her most famous lines--"Men Lie", "Have you
ever seen animals make love", That's what I do, I", and a few others.
Her clothes are incredible and Julianne Moore is very pretty too. Now,
the problem lies not so much within Madonna's acting but timing...the
film was released 3 months aft...

For those unfamiliar with the sad story BEHIND Gundam F91, here it is.
Originally intended as a new 50+ episode Gundam series, bad economy and
staff disputes threw the production into chaos. In the end, only 13
episodes worth of "bare-as-bones" story outline was produced. This
story outline was then condensed into a 115 minute movie. This condensation shows very jarringly throughout...

Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise was the legendary animation
studio Gainax's first major production and featured a lot of the high
quality (mostly) art and animation that would help keep their
reputation mostly strong as a unit. It's also largely different from
much of their later work as it's primarily a human drama, but knowing
nothing about it o...

This is classic anime at it\'s finest. I first saw this when it was
released in 1992 on VHS and have loved the film ever since. I\'ve only
ever seen it a hand full of times but, even now the animation is still
slick and the music is still great and compliments the action and
suspense really well. A very well written sci-fi piece based on Moto
Hagio\'s manga of the same name. In...

The original Lensman series of novels is a classic of the genre. It\'s
pure adventure SF with some substance (here and there) and I\'ve always
wondered why Hollywood hasn\'t filmed it verbatim because it\'s just the
kind of thing they love: massive explosions, super-weapons,
uber-heroics, hero gets the girl, aliens (great CGI potential), good
versus evil in the purest form, etc...

I never read the Golgo 13 manga, i played 2 games on the NES and i
liked the character, the way how James Bond should be !From what i know, Golgo 13 is a huge manga series in Japan that it's
keeping being published even today, it's a cultural phenomenon. This anime is a masterpiece, very good, better than expected, better
than a dozen of "James Bond" movies better th...

I saw this film when I was working and living in Brussels in 1979. Most
of my friends were North African, ergo Muslim. When this film came out,
we all went to the Bourse Cinema. The film itself was very
enlightening, and the fact that Mohammed himself was never 'in the
picture' (so to speak) I found contributing to the profoundness of the
film. What really struck me was that wh...
