James Cossins Movies

1998
Genres: Horror

Starring: Donald Pleasence, Norman Rossington, David Ladd, Sharon Gurney, Hugh Armstrong, ...

"Raw Meat" (aka "Death Line") is a truly unsettling experience, a low
budget effort that uses its own limitations to achieve a gritty effect.
The aspects of filth and decay in this movie are absolutely unnerving,
and while the story remains just this side of unbelievable, the very
idea of it was enough to make me a little queasy. As the film opens, the disappearance of a prominent B...

Genres: Crime    Drama    Mystery

Starring: Joan Hickson, Caroline Blakiston, Helena Michell, James Cossins, Joan Greenwood, ...

This movie made from Agatha Christie's novel is all about dotty characters,
and not really about crime. Christie was the master at crafting characters
and places. These were the essence of her novels, which placed them apart
and well above more routine mystery stories. There's Miss Marple, the epitome of the spinster lady of good manners and
breeding, if a little on the inquisitive ...

Genres: Crime    Horror    Thriller    Mystery

Starring: Peter Cushing, John Mills, Anne Baxter, Ray Milland, Anton Diffring, ...

Above all else, this TV movie was most welcome for giving Peter Cushing a
chance to end his acting career on a high note and in one of his most
celebrated roles (he appeared in one more film after this one but this was
to be the last lead role of his long career). He'd first played Sherlock
Holmes twenty-five years previously in a Hammer movie, and then in a 1968
BBC televisio...

Genres: Crime    Mystery    Romance    Thriller

Starring: Francesca Annis, John Gielgud, Bernard Miles, Eric Porter, Leigh Lawson, ...

Although the scenery and acting (apart from Joan Hicksons Mrs. Rivington-
who is super!) might not stand up to a lot, this adaptation of Christies
novel, is perhaps one of the most accurate I have seen. The running time
does go on a bit, but nothing is missed out and it is kept faithful to the
book. A very interesting piece indeed. I'd give it full marks for ingenuity
and plot!...

Starring: Andrew Keir, Valerie Leon, James Villiers, Hugh Burden, George Coulouris, ...

Blood from the mummy's tomb is a ravishing addition to the mummy genre…the
most stylish and elegant sub genre of horror. Based on writings by Bram
Stoker and produced by the British expert company Hammer ( near the end of
their reign in the field ), this film is not to be missed by fans of
breath-taking stories, stunning legends and historical settings. Margaret (

1970
Genres: Horror    Sci-Fi

Starring: Ralph Bates, Kate O'Mara, Veronica Carlson, Dennis Price, Jon Finch, ...

If you try to compare this remake to the original, it will of course fall
short as most recreated films do, but this feature is still very good for
a
late night scare. The biggest difference between this and the original is
Victor Von Frankenstein is practically more frightening than the monster
himself. He is a cold blooded, emotionless character, who uses

Starring: Michael Crawford, John Lennon, Roy Kinnear, Lee Montague, Jack MacGowran, ...

How I Won the War was a critical and commerical faliure upon it's initial
release. The film was attacked for mocking the Vietnam conflict and
dismissed by Beatle fans looking for another slapstick romp in vein of
Lesters previous efforts A Hard Day's Night and Help. While both of those
films are excellent in their own right, How I Won the War is far more
ambitious and even fun...
