No spoilers.I pretty much had zero expectations for this film. I'd seen an ad or
two and it looked conventional at best, clumsy at worst. The previews
certainly don't do it justice. It starts smart and mean and doesn't let
up. Not everyone will enjoy the unrelenting mood, but I found the
picture intense and the rest of the audience in the theater seemed to
agree. It...

"No Reservations" is not a great film, nor does it pretend to be. It is
very predictable and follows the formula used in countless other
movies. Despite that, it give you everything you want from this type of
film and is better than many of the sequels that have come out this
year.Catherine Zeta Jones is as beautiful as ever. There is a nice dose of
Verdi and Puccini opera aria...

Genres: Crime    Drama    Thriller

Starring: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Albert Finney, Marisa Tomei, Aleksa Palladino, ...

Two dysfunctional brothers (Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke) get
tired of competing for who is the bigger f***-up and who Daddy (Albert
Finney) loves more, so they hatch a hair-brained scheme to rob Mommy
and Daddy's jewelry store so that they can clear their debts and start
fresh. Sounds like a great plan except that this is a suspenseful
1970's style melodrama ...

Certainly not for everyone...but if you appreciate completely unique
and intense cinema...check it out. I am so impressed by Ashley Judd,
who I always liked, but had no idea of her range and courage. The film
is very disturbing...I would describe it as a dark comedy that gets
darker and darker and darker...calling it horror is too limited
although there are horror elements to i...

Let me start off by saying that I was introduced to the films of
Terrence Malick in 1998 when I watched and was blown away by 'The Thin
Red Line.' It is one of the best war movies ever made and while I can
rant about it at length, that review belongs on a different page. It
was with great anticipation that I waited for 'The New World.' I was
lucky enough to get tickets to an ad...

Genres: Drama    Sport

Starring: Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank, Morgan Freeman, Jay Baruchel, Mike Colter, ...

"Million Dollar Baby" has great characters, but it doesn't glorify
them. It has a wonderful story, but it never tries to impress you. The
photography, score and direction is superb, but never distracting. What
this movie is, if I have to call it something, is passion. Passion for
film-making, passion for storytelling, passion for its characters,
passion for its actors, and pass...

Genres: Comedy    Crime    Drama    Thriller    Romance

Starring: Colin Farrell, Kerry Condon, Johnny Thompson, Emma Bolger, Deirdre Molloy, ...

to be honest, the first scene sums this movie up, it's a punch in the
face. you have to have a very dry sense of humor to like this movie, i
don't think it was made for the usual "american" market. our culture is
geared toward in your face comedy, like old school or dodge ball, where
subtle darker humor about everyday life gets lost. husbands leave
wives, people get fired from ...

This could've been just another "Bonnie and Clyde"-style crime caper, but
it's more than that. "Bandits" starts out as a slick action-comedy and
evolves into a sweet romantic comedy. When I found out Barry Levinson was
the director, I assumed the film would be at least halfway decent. Levinson
has a keen eye for character development, and that's one of the things that
intere...
