A miss for all concerned.
Barry Levinson who is usually a first rate director misses by a country
mile with this abortion of a movie.Many times he has taken a bad script & made it a passable movie. NOT this time This dull bore was written by Art Linson which he took from his own novel. Well some books have been bad as well,this may have been one of them. This unfunny, supposed satire of Hollywood & film making does have a name cast. None really stand out. I will identify the cast without too much comment. Robert DeNiro is an unfunny movie producer. Bruce Willis is an actor named Bruce Willis. John Turturro is a director. I think Stanley Tucci is somewhere doing whatever. Catherine Keener is as usual very good, & ALSO Sean Penn as the star of film they have made. Great talent used bit wasted Production values good & last scenes filmed in Cannes This non movie did have a small theatrical run in late November & early December then released to DVD in Feb, 2009 Ratings: ** (out of 4) 52 points(out of 100)IMDb 4 (out of 10). peki2222 watch Gran Torino movie

robert deniro gives the best performance of the year and one of his best ever
this film is vastly underrated i had never heard of it until i saw it
at blockbuster deniro is great as always and should have gotten a best actor victory at the Oscars oh well speaking of Oscars slumdog millionaire makes we want to puke the film only won due to the bad things happening in India and it would be first to give best picture to a practically foreign film i agree with the departed and no country for old men, but this movie is pushing reality i also want to waste some lines now i just want go to you for the as red deer in a park climbing into peoples pants and going back to him for the thing that is weird and long and weird and hard and gross and yummy what just happened is what id like to know. |
