Can anybody just review this movie?
Who cares if Mel Gibson was involved? Most of the reviews I've read
concentrate on the production staff and the director. Was the movie entertaining? Yes! Where there any good performances? Cole Hauser was excellent as a man dropped in the deep end and trying to swim. He showed a great range of emotions and his character was believable. Tom Sizemore makes a great scumbag. Daniel Baldwin is convincing as a big, dumb brute. I thought Dennis Farina has done better work and I'm not familiar with Robin Tunney, but they were both passable. The basic concept of the story bears resemblance to the "Death Wish" series of movies that made Charles Bronson a star, but the intrusiveness of photo journalists is a new twist. Is the movie a perfect 10? Of course not, but no movie is. "Paparazzi" made for an enjoyable afternoon at the movies. What more could you want?. Secret watch A Christmas Story movie

Paparazzi makes you hate those invaders of privacy.
Solid, if Unspectacular
I found the movie hearkening back to the revenge thrillers of the '70s
and '80s. It moves from point A to point B with little to no surprises, but it's still an enjoyable film. The film actually lived up to the trailer, which made me want to see it. Cole Hauser carried his role of Bo Laramie well. Tom Sizemore oozed the right amount of SCUMBAG for the role, but that comes as no surprise to me. My only real problem was the rather blatant lobotomy they gave Dennis Farina's character. Any detective worth his salt would've instantly made Laramie the prime suspect when the photographers who nearly killed his wife and son turn up dead. Probably wouldn't buy it on DVD, but I'd definitely see it again.. |
