Cheesy, campy return to the 'Doomed Flight' genre...
Wesley Snipes is the only fun there is about this movie and he really
isn't that fun in this movie! He stars as former air security rep. John Cutter, Cutter lost in wife in a tragic holdup and he blames himself wholly because of it. Virtual Unknown at the time Elizabeth Hurley plays a crooked stewardess, the villain Rane is cool, a little too mysterious but cool. Everything in this movie is rushed along in a quick hour and twenty minutes pretty well so there really is no time to go to the bathroom or get popcorn while its going (not that you'll miss much). Overall not a horrible movie but still is cheesy and campy in some spots (almost like this movie should have been on TV instead). The ending is silly and a lot of the action in this film depends on your ability to disassociate yourself with reality and let the campiness do its work.. sukri watch Epoch: Evolution movie

An action classic, one of the best Die Hard clones
This is a very entertaining action film and Wesley Snipes is an
excellent action hero. This movie isn't exactly original, but it does exactly what it was meant to do. It was clearly influenced by Die Hard, but along with Under Siege it's the best of the Die Hard influenced films of the 90's. This really established Snipes as an action star and like the Die Hard movies the villain is a terrorist. Bruce Payne does an excellent job as the terrorist Charles Rane and Snipes plays former cop John Cutter. The movie begins with the cops arresting Charles Rane. John Cutter's wife had been killed during a robbery when he was a cop so now he works training security how to deal with terrorists. Cutter's friend Sly Delvecchio(Tom Sizemore) gets him a job as vice-president anti-terrorism unit at Atlantic International Airlines. He starts his new job on a plane to Los Angeles that Charles Rane happens to be boarding in FBI custody on his way to his trial in Los Angeles. Also on board is a flight attendant Marti Slayton who Cutter had taught earlier in the film. They, however did not see eye to eye then. The title of the film comes from the fact that Cutter was passenger 57 during the Marti's head count. With the help of a flight attendant Sabrina Ritchie who shoots both FBI officers, Rane escapes. Ritchie is played by Elizabeth Hurley. Ranes and Ritchie are joined by several other henchmen who take control of the flight. Cutter initiates a fuel dump which forces the plane to land and he escapes, but Marti is captured. Rane agrees to release half the hostages in exchange for fuel and takeoff clearance. Rane and a couple of his men escape as the passengers are being let off the flight. Cutter chases Rane and captures him, but Rane tells police that his men aboard the plane will kill hostages if he's not returned to the plane. Rane is aloud back on the plane, but Cutter also sneaks on the plane as it's taking off. This sets up some more great action sequences and a terrific ending. Cutter kicks Rane out of the plane to kill him, and throughout the movie there's a ton of great fight scenes. Snipes is the quintessential action hero, good one-liners, great during the fight scenes, imposing physique and charismatic. Marti obviously is also Cutter's love interest and the movie ends with them walking away. Tom Sizemore does a good job in a supporting role and Bruce Payne does an excellent job as well. Fans of the Die Hard films and Under Siege will probably like this. "Die Hard on a Plane" is a success!. |
