The one Walt would have been proud of.
This is a true gem. Call it Disney's "It's a Wonderful Life". A short
fantastic story by Charles Dickens with a great message for all of us during the holidays. First of all i want to thank the screenwriters who successfully adapted the story into a Disney setting: Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchit, Jiminy Cricket as one of the Christmas ghosts, etc. Great job ! The drawings are perfect again. These could have been easily made by Disney's Nine Old Men. Look at those houses, the ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. All beautiful ! And above all there is this heartwarming story with some touching scenes. (Tiny Tim's Funeral) 10/10 Truly, the best Disney short and probably the one that Walt would have been proud of.. xShjanetx watch Two For The Road movie

Mickey's 1983 Christmas Carol takes me back to my childhood. This is a classic Christmas movie that everyone should see, especially at a young age. Loved it then, love it now..

like to watch.
'twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, some spirits took a Scrooge to see Mickey Mouse.
Just as I am unable to separate my happy memory of seeing my first
Disney film in the cinema when I was a wee lad (it was a re-release of The Jungle Book) I am also unable to stop myself from grinning broadly whenever I get a chance to catch this delightful animated short that was screened before the main event, to my absolute pleasure. Taking the classic Dickens tale as it's centre, this is obviously a truncated piece and is missing a lot of little touches here and there but it has all of the essence of the piece and uses appropriate Disney characters in the right roles. Ebeneezer is portrayed by Scrooge McDuck, Bob Cratchit by Mickey Mouse and the three ghosts are Jiminy Cricket, Willie The Giant and fearsome Pete respectively playing past, present and future. With Marley being played by Goofy and a cheery nephew Fred in the form of Donald Duck you have a great cast of familiar faces. The animation is beautiful and, while six people worked on adapting the story, it's worth crediting director Burny Mattinson and all of the animators who created a Disneyworld in which to place the events of A Christmas Carol. The writers have done a fine job but I always like to leave most of the credit in that department to Mr. Dickens, due to him having created such a timeless, joyous tale. It's, surprisingly, not something that has become an annual staple (well, certainly not here in the UK) and I really hope that changes at some point as it's a festive delight well worth half an hour of your time while you let all of that food settle in your tummy.. |
