A genius, genius movie! One of the best in gangster genre
Johnny Deep plays an FBI agent Joe Pistone by the name Donnie Brasco
infiltrates a New York mafia. Lefty Ruggiero played by Al Pacino acts like a mentor and even more as a father to him as Donnie/Joe goes deeper and deeper in the mafia world which will cause his life to become total dump. The performances are excellent at best. Johnny Deep plays a good and honest man turned into a rough wise guy by the underworld perfectly. This is IMO one of Al Pacino's best performances. The chemistry between him and Deep is genius! Michael Madsen is possibly the most underrated actor ever! He was genius in this, if not Oscar worthy. Now the best thing is the writing. There are sooo many things that don't have anything to do with the story but make the movie much more interesting. The dialog is very natural. It doesn't have the over the top amount of F words like Casino or cheesy one liners like Scarface. All in all an excellent gangster movie that's not just for fans of gangster movie but mainstream audience.. fantastic watch The Bells Of St. Mary's movie
Today we will continue with our superhero films list with the review of Captain America marvel comics’ second appearance on the big screen. Yes there has already been a film back in 1990 but that is all we will say about that one. Captain America was originally created back in 1941 and experienced a successful revival in the 1960s. However did you know that Captain America albeit a Marvel Comics character, wasn’t actually created by Stan Lee? Captain America came about as a patriotic superhero during World War II in which America obviously took apart in and the fictional comic character was dreamt up by writer Joe Simon and artist Jack Kirby.
Captain America aka Steve Rogers is a soldier that is judged to be too unfit for the army, so decides to volunteer for a top secret research project and agrees to take part in experiments for this Super Soldier program. The US army succeeds in transforming him into a human weapon; however decide he is too expensive to be wasted in battle. He is then used as a morale booster for troops fighting across Europe, like a mascot he is portrayed in front of the troops and is given a costume with the American colours.
He is however called into action when a Nazi plot reveals itself and he must rise up and become the First Avenger, in order to save his country. Captain America is then born and fights for justice for his nation often against his archenemy The Red Skull. In his last mission he is frozen for almost six decades and then is revived to join forces and become an Avenger of the modern age..

as if responsible, whenever her 'clients' hit her. 'Adam' seems to work out as Mike's substitute father, smacking him at worst, but their past starts catching up and Art being seen in action as Kate's lover poisons the triangle dramatically.

Great Mob Movie
It was not until 2009 that I saw this film and I'm not entirely sure
how or why I never watched it, or really knew what it was about, until then. I say that because I really enjoy this type of film and I especially love Al Pacino. But anyways, I thought that this movie was very nicely done. The plot was solid and the characters were all really great. When movies on an interesting subject like this and done very well, it makes me want to learn more about said subject. So after watching this film, I spent a lot of time researching mob life and the "five families" on Wikipedia. I only note that because I think that it says a lot about how this movie really interested me. It was really neat to see Johnny Depp in a serious role once again. He's a talented actor and very versatile, but I am very sick of him as Willy Wonka, Jack Sparrow, and coming soon as the Mad Hatter. Michael Madson and the rest of the cast were very good as well. I did not like this film quite as well as Goodfellas, but that is not taking anything away from this. I would recommend both if you're interested in mob movies.. |
