A good movie, better than the comics
Me being the fan of the original comic saga, was bit worried about this
one. How are these guys going to fit this memorable story into 75
minutes time frame of an animated movie? But my fears were irrelevant
as this project was in safe hands.
Adapted from one of the most popular comic book saga of all time, DCU
brings us a highly entertaining experience with Superman/Doomsday
This is a kind of Superman movie which I wanted to watch as a live
action movie ever since I was a kid reading Superman comic books.
This movie is enjoyable not only because of its superb action but also
because of its effective story. The story of this movie is very
interesting because it creates and defines its own new theme rather
than just re-hashing the doomsday comic book saga.
There may be few fan boys who will feel disappointed that it's not a
faithful adaptation of comic saga but I am glad that its not, because
the comic book material wasn't designed for a 75 minute animated movie.
This new story gives us a fresh experience which is familiar but not
predictable to get boring. We have got a fascinating Luthor which is
one of the best on screen characterization of this complex character.
With a masterful use of sound and visual design and no dialogue at all,
we are shown all we need to know about relentless personality of
There are so many fresh elements in this story but perhaps the most
interesting idea of the filmmakers was to bring a Dark Superman. Also
not to forget the chemistry between Clark and Lois which is undeniably
more appealing than SR.
And if you have got power of imagination the action of this movie will
blow you away. For the first time in a long time, I have seen such
marvelous fight sequences in a movie of this genre. Bruce Timm and all
his team members got this one right. They got it perfect. This is the
kind of action which a Superman movie deserves.
You never doubt for a minute all the brutal pounding between Superman
and Doomsday in which Metropolis is literally blown apart. Thanks to
Superb direction, fascinating imagination of the directors, and high
quality sound effects. The epic battle comes out as a masterpiece which
should set an example for the directors who are going to be attached to
the future Superman projects.
The ultimate Showdown between Superman and Dark Superman is as
octane-thrilling and heart pumping as the Superman/Doomsday battle.
One of the most noteworthy aspects of this movie is the fact that we
get to see 4 villains without any Hodgepodge. They are in place with a
single meaningful purpose-to push the plot relentlessly. I have already
watched it 6 times and the movie doesn't get boring at all.
The directors have skillfully structured scenes, action, that arouse,
keep and intensify our interest. The scenes are quickly paced and
neatly edited. (Something which lacked in SR) The only thing which I
wanted to see a bit more was of funeral scene which was cut quite
short. But other than that this movie is highly satisfying and
entertaining not only because of its top-notch animation, superb action
and villains, but also because of its good story and quality voice
artists and good music.
I am extremely proud of Bruce Timm and every member of this team for
making this good movie and respecting one of the greatest icons in
mythology. Keep up the good work. I am looking forward to watch other
Superman projects (even live action movies) under Bruce Timm's
guidance. He has got depth understanding of superhero entertainment and
the characters. His masterful use of visual style as well his
understanding of good music to heighten the impact of scenes have made
him one of the top league directors like Peter Jackson, James Cameron,
Steven Spielberg of this genre.
Thanks Bruce and team, all the guys at DC and Warnerbros for making my
childhood dream true. Maybe someday in near future you guys will make
our another dream true-to see a great franchise of Superman movies of
this class and entertainment. Till then best wishes and God Bless..

Great movie great for travel leisure. .

a very good movie i should say very good for animation too.
great movie of all super man movie to me .
Interesting to see superman get his butt whipped for a change!.
Yeat again the animated beats the live action !
This film is better than any of the live action movies, that includes
the original starring Christopher Reeves. One of the great things about
this movie is that it sticks close to the source material yet at the
same time does not simply copy the comic books. The animation is the
same art as the animated series. Although the art is simple it works.
The graphics aren't to over the top like some recent animated movies
that I have seen that try to mesmerise the audience into thinking the
film has a great plot, this however is the opposite. The story is the
main focus and gives in sight into the characters, not just superman
but the whole cast. The problem I have always had with comic book
movies is the re-telling of the origins is always inferior or in some
cases totally different to that of the comics. This movie over comes
that problem simply by not re-telling the origins at all. Although that
was a good choice I believe that people that do not know about superman
may be lost. Though it may be hard to believe that there are people who
don't know about how superman came to be, I have personally met people
who only had a rough idea of his origins. The decision to not include
the re-telling of Superman's origins is the only reason why I am giving
this film a rating of eight rather than the full ten. Even though there
hasn't been a truly successful re-telling of the origins, I still think
it would of benefited some of the audience. This is a definite must see
for anyone regardless if they are into the comic books or not..
