Future Cult Classic
The Broken Lizard troupe returns with a horror mystery set in a island
resort owned by former rock star, Coconut Pete (Bill Paxton). Everyone
is a suspect when dead bodies start turning up all over the tropical
paradise, but can the wacky, drugged-out and over-sexed staff of the
resort work together to solve the murders and return to their partying
ways?

The spoof genre is getting kind of lame with the Scary Movie franchise
doing it to death. Surprisingly, this film isn't half bad. When the
movie was released in theaters, it was ignored and it deserves to find
an audience. As far as stupid comedies go, you can do a lot worse. Club
Dread may not be frequently funny but it still offers a few decent
laughs. However, there are a few things that keep the film from really
breaking out. There are the comparisons to Super Troopers and Club
Dread isn't as good as that film. It's kind of disappointing if you
look at it like that. Another reason it isn't that good is because it's
just not very creative.

Like I said before, the spoof genre is becoming very old and a lot of
these spoof movies aren't very creative. Some of the jokes in Club
Dread are pretty uninspired and some of them just sink. Sometimes, they
seem to be trying too hard to be funny while other times they blow
opportunities to make a certain scene funnier. The running time is 119
minutes long (at least the version I saw) and this ends up hurting the
film. Since it's longer, there are a lot of slow spots and long
comedies hardly ever work nowadays. There just isn't enough material to
cover that time frame. The cast is mostly made up of unknowns and they
all give good, funny performances. Bill Paxton is the only real famous
person in the film and he gives a good performance. It' s surprising
that they didn't advertise his name for the film. The only actress I
didn't like was Brittany Daniel. She was bland and not that
interesting. I like watching these type of films becomes it's fun to
try to predict who the killer is. In the end, if you're looking for a
stupid comedy then Club Dread may fit the bill. If you're expecting
another Super Troopers then just skip the movie. Rating 6/10.

This movie was the funniest horror that I have ever seen. No other film company can make their horror movies as funny as this one. All the actors really stuck to their character and made it their own which I enjoy. Not only were they playing a character but they were adding a little bit of themselves to it as well..
Laeisha1998 watch Run! Bitch Run! movie

This Movie Is Just Plain Fun
For all of the critics who have lost their sense of humor: get a life.
Broken Lizard's Club Dread is a great, fun movie--especially for us in our
late 30's and 40's. Bill Paxton is GREAT as a Jimmy Buffet knock-off, and
the rest of the cast does pretty good, too. You have to go into this film
with the attitude that you're going to have a fun, mindless, romp. If
you're looking for award-winning screen writing, go see Lost In Translation
(which SUCKS, by the way). So, take a night off and go have fun at the
movies for a change. Me and a theater full of about 200 people agreed.
Club Dread was a funny, creative diversion.

It's a great vacation and deserves a B+. Read Roger Ebert's review in the
Chicago Sun-Times..
